Ethernet / LAN Cables

Buy Ethernet / LAN Cables CAT 6; Cat 6 A, Cat 6 E, Cat 5, LAN Cables Standard Approved Cables from Companies Like Siemon, D-link, Ease-Net, TP-Link, and Aico,  At affordable Prices from Tdk Solutions Limited. Cat 6 outdoor and indoor cables, shielded and nonshielded cables.

There is a complexity associated with home networking, howbeit, there is an important aspect that you need to consider before making a purchase.

The cable can either be STP or UTP. STP means SHIELDED TWISTED PAIR, it is bundled inside a rubber sleeve with no other protection. UTP means Unshielded Twisted Pair and is the most common. STP is more expensive compared to UTP

Theoretically, UTP supports 100 meters long between the host or switch. If you need longer cables you will require powered switches.

Category 5 Ethernet Cables (Cat 5E)

This is the worst king of ethernet cabling that you will find in the Kenyan market, theoretically, it supports 100mbps. It uses 2 of the 4 pair wires. Do not purchase cat 5 unless you need to run a long bit of cable at low bandwidth.

Category 5e Network Cables

Cat 5e (e is the enhanced version), which decreases crosstalk and thus enables a speed of up to 1000mbps (Gigabit Ethernet). It is the most common kind of cable that you will find today and is adequate for home use.

Category 6 LAN Ethernet Cables -Gigabit Speeds

Cat 6 handles up to 10 gigabits theoretically at a maximum length of 37m and is complete overkill for home use.

CAT5e vs CAT6

An ethernet cable is graded by the speed of data it can transfer, CAT5e and CAT6 both support Gigabit ethernet (1000mbs) as well as lower speeds,

CAT6 has a tighter twist in the wire pairs which allows 10 Gigabit networking over distances up to 50m and 2-way communication on each pair of wires, the tighter twist also provides better noise immunity which in turn leads to lower delay and skew.

Cat6  has a further tightening of the wire twist and adds a shield, this allows 10 Gigabit networking up to circa 100m.

For typical home use such as connecting a router to a smart TV, a Cat 5e Ethernet cable is more than adequate as the limiting factor will be your broadband speed, for HDMI over Ethernet we recommend using CAT 6 full copper.
